Fighting spots with drugstore products...

I'm lucky that I usually don't get spots but around the 'time of the month' I usually get a few mammoth sized ones. As they are normally quite big I use the following  products to try and get rid of them as soon as possible.

Botanics mattifying cleansing mousse has the natural ingredient of willowbark that contains a natural source of salicylic acid which cleanses, clarifies and reduces excess oil. I really enjoy this cleanser and it seems to help clear up my hormonal redness.

I like to use the Superdrug mud therapy sensitive deep cleansing mud mask a couple times throughout the week when I have spots, this really helps dry out he spots and has rosewater in it which helps sooth my skin.  Unfortunately it looks like Superdrug has revamped their range and now have different types of masks

Superdrug deep action anti-blemish gel is hands down the best thing I have ever used to minimise the size of spots.  I apply this on the spots and leave overnight and also put it on under my daytime moisturiser and makeup... within two days my spots have cleared up.

The only moisturiser that helps ease my spots but at the same time really hydrates my skin is the Clean & Clear dual action moisturiser. This is oil free which which wont clog my pores and leaves my skin feeling refreshed when applied over a cleansed face.

I would love to hear what products you use to keep your skin under control.

  1. The best drug store product I ever found (baring in mind I had full on cystic acne!) was Quinoderm, dries out and kills spots in like two days. It does really dry your skin out though so only use it on your spots and nowhere else, as it contains benxoyl peroxide. Only csots £2.60 from Boots pharmacy :)
