Recent moisturising picks...

As I'm on the other side of my mid twenties now I have rekindled my love for skin care. I have realised I need to take care of my skin as I'm really starting to notice fine lines around my eyes and my frown line... note to self need stop frowning!

This is my year to try and use up products as I have so many skincare products. I want to use up as many things as possible and then focus on renewing my skincare with a few staple products.

These are the current products I'm using to moisturise my skin:
~NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Christmas Limited Edition multi-usage dry oil -I use this oil at night time and the next morning my skin has a nice glow. This can also be used n hair and body which is great!
~Simple age resisting eye cream - this is my favourite drugstore eyecream as it doesn't irritate my eyes and moisturises brilliantly. However I have caved and have ordered the Keihls creamy eye treatment with avacado as Debenhams has 10% off high end beauty, offer ends on sunday so go check out the amazing offers!
~Botanics radiant youth serum - this feels very luxurious and I use it every morning before my moisturiser. I bought this and the below botanics product when they were half price.
~Botanics Radiance Concentrate Serum in the pipette container - when I google to try and find this, it comes up as the Botanics Radiant Youth Super Serum above which is a completely different texture. I'm so confused as I only bought it around a ago.  I use it at night time as it clears up my dry skin plus gives my skin a glow.
~Soap & Glory the fill monty line filler - I use a tiny dab of this mixed with my eye cream in the morning and it instantly smoothes out lines. (I have the old packaging)
~No7 protect & perfect night cream - I got this last Christmas when it was in a gift set half price. This is £23 and I don't know if I would repurchase as I don't really like the smell and for the price I would rather put a bit extra and get a higher end product like origins or elemis.
~Benefit triple performance face cream spf 15- I have the travel version of this. It is really good but for me it's too fragranced.
~NUXE Crème Prodigieuse Anti-Fatigue Moisturising Cream -  This is a lovely luxurious face cream where a little goes a long way.  It has really helped clear the dryness around my nose area.

As I have said I'm trying to use all my products up but I've went and ordered the new eye cream and a new face oil to try, so look out for a new post soon:)

Saturday Sample Special....

Over the past few months I have picked up so many samples, whether it's from magazines, glossy box, birchbox and shop extras.  I thought I would gather them all up together and finally start using them. I've used some of these products and can't wait to try the rest.

Skincare
  • Elemental herbology facial glow radiance peel
  • Ren glycolactic radiance renewal mask - I've used this once and love it
  • Dr.organic snail gel - the name has put me off this... has anyone tried it?
  • Clinque moisture surge tinted moisturiser
  • Eucerin dermo purifyer hydrating care - this brand is really good for people with sensitive skin.
  • Garnier moisture match oily/combination - I have the full size version of this for dry skin and really like it.

Haircare
  • Garnier ultimate blends conditioner
  • Garnier ultimate blends the sleek perfector oil
  • Angel perfuming hair mist
  • Beauty protector protect an detangle leave in conditioner
  • Electric hairdressing London hydrate shampoo

Makeup
  • Clarins wonder perfect mascara - I absolutely love this mascara, gives me volume and length.
  • MAX Factor facefinity primer
  • Rimmel wake me up foundation
  • Clinque beyond perfecting foundation + concealer
  • Chanel Vitalumiere aqua foundation x 3 - this foundation is incredible, at some point I want to buy the full size version.
  • Liz Earle sheer skin tint foundation
  • Benefit the porefessional - I have the full size of this and it does do wonders for my pores:)
  • Benefit benetint
  • Benefit posietint
  • Benefit lollitint
  • Benefit that gal brightening primer

Bodycare
  • Activebod feel great shower concentrate
  • Espa bergamot Jasmine and a hint of cedarwood body lotion - this product is so luxurious, it smells like being in a spa. I would be very tempted to buy a bottle of this, its £18 for 250ml.
  • Angel perfuming shower gel
  • Escents verve bergamot and honey hand & body lotion
  • Hawaiian tropic satin protection ultra radiance sun lotion - I am very pale so this will be very handy to put in my handbag for the summer months so I'm not caught out and get burnt.

Perfume
  • English Laundry by Christopher Wicks - I am in love with this scent, it's actually very similar to the Britney Spears fantasy perfume in the pink bottle but a bit more sophisticated looking.  I would love a full size bottle of this, the only downside is it is very hard to buy as I think it's an American product.

Palette focus...

I've had this leopard print Z palette for over two years now and it still looks like new. I've recently rearranged/decluttered my makeup and realised just how perfect the Z palette is to mix and match what I like to use on a regular basis.  I then decided to get rid of my MAC 15 eyeshadow palette and replace it with this lovely large white Z palette, it's far more practical as I can fit various sizes of eye shadows and blushers into it.

I depotted my Benefit cheeky sweet spot box o' blushes set, I use this now to store some small blushers as it is too nice to throw away. In this lovely small z palette I have the four benefit products I use the most ~Hoola~dandelion~balla bamba~coralista

I was able to fit 23 items into this large Z palette.  I prefer this to my old MAC palette(solid black lid), the reason being this one is transparent therefore I feel I use my eye shadows more, before I would forget what products I had and kept using the same ones everyday.

From top left I have MAC bisque, Natural Collection in shroom, MAC concrete, soap and glory aubersheen, MAC Satin Taupe, MAC blackberry, soap & glory dandy plum, MAC scene, MAC smut, soap & glory smokin, MAC nehru, revlon (not sure what colour), benefit rockateur blush, MAC carbon, loreal solo eye shadow (not sure of name), Stila jezebel, Stila illiamani, Stila kalahoo, benefit sugarbomb, the 4 small eye shadows are from an estee lauder travel set.

Do you like to depot eye shadows or prefer to keep them in their packaging?

Disappointing lip products...

~Lipcote - I just don't understand what the hype about this product is, to me it smells like nail polish remover and doesn't work for me. Maybe I'm applying it wrong, can someone please explain how they get it t work?lol
~Revlon colourstay moisture lip stain  - initially I thought this was a great product but after a while the product got really gloopy and didn't apply to my lips very well.
~MUA intense lipgloss - this is a very sheer sparkly colour which isn't my favourite however I will use it up and might try some of the darker shades.
~Rimmel apocalips lip lacquer  - to me this product smells like paint, not appealing at all and after I had it a few weeks it did not apply well.
~Maybelline baby lips in cherry me - this colour gives a slight tint to the lips however I don't like the feel of it, I think it leaves a greasy texture.
~Victoria Secrets sparkle lip gloss - I don't like the packaging on this product as you can't get enough of the product applicator and it is very sheer. I think this has been discontinued.
~Maybelline baby lips in peach kiss - this colour is a peach shimmer but as I said above I just don't like the texture from this range.
~Maybelline baby lips in pink punch - this one probably has the best colour pay off, but doesn't last very long on the lips.
~Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Balm - I think this product is now discontinued, the packaging is very gimmicky as it comes with a small brush on the top of the lid. I think if they have the brush they should have added a mirror in the lid. The colour is lovely in the packaging but is very sheer on the lips and doesn't moisturise.

Swatches of the products from left to right (I mixed the two baby lips up as I didn't want the two nude colours beside each other).  I am very pale so the colours showed up better on my arm, for the sheer colours I added a few layers.

I love all these brands but just not these particular products. What lip products have disappointed you?

8 Shades of copper...

I have recently been loving copper coloured eyeshadows as they make my blue eyes stand out. I bought the NYX eyeshadow as I thought I didn't have any copper colours and of course being a makeup addict I had already got some lovely copper shades.

Fearne Cotton eye shadow palette - this is one of Fearne's palettes from her Christmas line in Boots.

GOSH pigment - I think these must be discontinued as I can't find them online

PURE eye shadow cube - again I think this is discontinued:(

Too Faced Mocha Meteor - this is a baked eye shadow which has shades of rich brown, copper and an almost champagne colour.  I think this must be discontinued as I can't find it being sold online.

Jemma Kidd eye shadow from the Backstage kit

I heart my heated rollers...

This includes 20 thermo-ceramic rollers, it has 2 heat settings for different hair types and an on indicator light.

8 large, 6 medium and 6 small rollers

Heat ready indicator dot on one of the large rollers (goes white when ready)

20 metal pins                             10 super clips
                                                                                 I only use these

I use a mixture of the large and medium sized rollers. My hair is quite unruly so I put it onto the highest heat setting.  I keep them in for around 15 minutes and the above pictures show how my hair looks as soon as I remove them.

I like the messy look so I always brush through the curls with my fingers and finish with the Loreal volume supersizing texture spray. I use these nearly every day for work as they are so easy and quick to use. The only downside is they aren't very travel friendly, if I go away I have to take my herstyler wand with me instead.

Beauty shopping list...

1 Lush Bubble gum lip scrub - my lips are continuously dry at the minute and this has always helped in the past. I've been holding off on going to Lush as once I'm there I end up buying too many bath bombs.

2 MAC shy girl lipstick - I have items to 'back to MAC' and I'm thinking about the shy girl lipstick.  Can anyone recommend any other nice nude colours?

3 NUXE lip balm - as I said before my lips are chapped at the minute and I've heard so many good reviews about this. I also read that the La Roche Posay Nutritic Lips is good?

4 First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads - After reading Caroline Hirons review about these how could I not want them.

5 Beauty Blender - this is one of those cult products that everyone talks about. My Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge has been keeping my from buying this however I'm on my second one and it is also starting to rip therefore I would like to see if the Beauty Blender lasts longer.

6 Laura Mercier matte radiance baked powder highlight in 01 - I have been wanting this for a while now but when Lorraine Stanick (one of my favourite youtubers) showed it in her recent haul she made me want it even more:)

Shopping my makeup stash...

  • Real Techniques expert face brush - I have fallen back in love with this makeup brush.  I started using it along with the bourjois bronzing cream and it helps to blend it flawlessly.
  • Rimmel scandaleyes eyeshadow paint in 006 rich russet - I love this product so much, the colour is great (swatch pic below), easy to blend, it's great as an eyeshadow base and to use alone as an eyeshadow. I'm so disappointed as I think this product has been discontinued, I can't find it on the Boots or Superdrug website:(
  • Maybelline brow drama in medium brown - I always read mixed reviews about this product but this does wonders for my brows. I have slightly thicker brows and it works great, tames them very well and gives a natural look.
  • Revlon super lustrous matte lipstick in 002 pink pout - this is probably my all time favourite lip colour (swatch pic below).  I've read reviews that it is a dupe for MAC's snob (£8.01 cheaper) but I've never tried it so couldn't say, has anyone else tried it?
  • Rimmel scandaleyes waterproof kohl eyeliner in 005 nude - I've been enjoying wearing this on my work days as it makes your eyes look brighter (swatch pic below).
  • Rimmel exaggerate full colour lip liner in 063 eastend snob - I use this lipliner along with most of my pink toned lipsticks and it works really well (swatch pic below), I like the packaging and the fact that it's a cream lip liner.  I've also been reading lots of blogs saying it's a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lip liner, that's £12.01 difference, think I'll stick with the Rimmel for now.
  • The Body Shop moisture foundation in 02  - Recently I seemed to always lean towards my heavier foundations like Estee Lauder double wear light so I thought I would give my skin a break and use this body shop foundation again.  As it's name suggests it is a lovely moisturising foundation and is buildable.
  • Bourjois BB bronzing cream - I've had this for ages and have only recently started using it again. I think you're supposed to use it under foundation as it claims to even skin tone but as I'm so fair I use it as a cream bronzer.

Have you shopped your stash recently... if so what products are you loving again?

High quality MAC brush dupes...

Okay girls, I had a complete moment when I received my order from Blank Canvas Cosmetics. They came packaged lovely, well wrapped and in a gold envelope which was a lovely extra touch. I am obsessed with makeup brushes, I already own some Sigma, Real Techniques, Body Shop, Eco Tools brushes and many more. I have been longing for the MAC brushes however I just couldn't justify spending that amount of money on brushes.  I previously owned the MAC stippling brush but I actually didn't really like it and ended up selling it. I was reading a few different Irish beauty blogs and came across this brand and as I am N'Irish I of course wanted to support an Irish brand:)

From the top down I ordered:
  • 1 x E42 Pointed Crease Blender - I think this is like the 226
  • 1 x E26 Blending Brush - dupe for 217
  • 1 x E24 Flat Shader/Lay Down Brush - dupe for 239
  • 1 x E23 Short Pencil - dupe for 219
  • 1 x E28 Ultra Fine Liner - dupe for 210

I am so glad I came across this brand, the only downside now is I will want to own them all!

5 shades of grey...

Yes I meant 5 not 50.lol!:) As it is valentines season I thought I might as well incorporate this highly anticipated film into a blog post. My husband and I don't buy into the whole 'Valentines' tradition as we feel people end up buying things that are more than likely not needed just for the sake of it which of course is such a waste of money, also every moment should be appreciated with loved ones. On valentines we will more than likely get a Marks and Spencer's meal deal and sit in and watch a film, I know we are such party animals.lol!

So back to what I love doing best, looking through my makeup stash and finding things I forgot I had. I have had four of these products for probably over a year now and I forgot how great they all are.

  • Inika eyeliner in graphite - I like using this as a lower lash line colour as sometimes I think black is too harsh on a day to day basis.  Inika is a natural makeup brand, this eyeliner is vegan and organic. As they are a certified organic, cruelty-free, Halal and Vegan brand I am very interested in trying more of their products, I would love to hear if you've tried any.
  • Bourjois smoky effect in 74 grey shadow - as the name suggests this is a great product to create a lovely smokey eye. It's so easy to use, just line your upper eye and blend with a smudge brush. This product does come with a small brush on the end but I don't think it works that well. Unfortunately this colour must be discontinued as I can't find it on the Boots or Superdrug website.
  • NYX jumbo pencil in slate - this colour is such a lovely grey tone with just a tint of black. I find it really easy blend and I would love to try more of their colours, I already have the cult colour milk.
  • Eyeko fat eye stick in smoke - this is my newest product which I received in a recent Birchbox. I have only used it once and I was really impressed with it.  It's more of a night time colour and a brilliant crease colour to give depth to a smokey eye.
  • Collection eyeshadow pencil in gunmetal glitz - to me this product stands out from the rest as it is blendable and waterproof (I have to really rub to get it off), not to mention it is only £3.19. There are 6 shades in this product and I definitely want to try them all.
Below are some swatches and just look how beautiful these shades of grey are!

In my dreams... red carpet looks...

Red carpet season is well and truly under way. Did you all see the stunning dresses at the Grammys and BAFTA's?! From the Grammys it had to be the two dresses Beyonce wore and I loved Jenna Coleman and Lea Seydoux's dresses at the BAFTA's.

I was recently inspired by a lovely US company called Weddington Way, they are an online boutique mainly for wedding attire, however they have beautiful dresses that would be perfect for any occasion, especially an awards show or a red carpet event.

Firstly all I can say is I wish I knew about their website sooner as it has so many designs and styles.  I thought I would select my favourite red carpet look using their bridesmaid collection.  I found this very hard as I fell in love with so many of them and there are hundreds to choose from!  Below are ones I just had to show you~

Top 3 under $150

  Top 3 under $200

Top 3 over $200

All the above dresses also come in a variety of shades, these were the colours that caught my eye.

I love all the above dresses but if I had to choose one for a red carpet event (yes in my dreams.lol) I probably would pick the last dress as it just looks so elegant and something that would never go out of style.  This is what I would pair with this stunning dress to complete my over all look:

~I looked through so many hairstyles and this is the one from pinterest that I kept going back to, structured but still has an effortless look to it
~Monaco glass crystal drop earrings from Accessorize, the drop on these is the perfect size
~I would create a smokey copper eye look as it makes blue eyes stand out, I recently bought the NYX eyeshadow in es16 copper, so beautiful!

The Weddington Way website is brilliant, it has gave me a lot of inspiration and they have such a great range of dresses to suit everyones tastes. They also ship internationally!:)

Which look do you prefer?
